Pangong Tso, or Pangong Lake, is an endorheic lake spanning the border between India and Tibet. At an altitude of 4,350 meters (14,270 ft), it's one of the highest saltwater lakes in the world. The lake is 134 km long, extending from India to the Tibetan Autonomous Region, with approximately 60% of its length in Tibet.
The lake is renowned for its constantly changing colors—from azure to light blue to green and grey— depending on the time of day and season. This phenomenon is caused by the reflection of sunlight on the lake's surface and the high mineral content of the water.
Made famous by the Bollywood film "3 Idiots," Pangong Lake has become one of the most sought-after destinations in Ladakh. The pristine beauty, dramatic mountain backdrop, and the surreal experience of watching the lake change colors make it an unforgettable destination.
