Magnetic Hill

Magnetic Hill is a gravity hill located near Leh in Ladakh, India. The layout of the area and surrounding slopes creates an optical illusion that makes a slight downhill slope appear to be an uphill slope. Thus, a car left out of gear will appear to be rolling uphill.

Located on the Leh-Kargil-Srinagar national highway, about 30 km from Leh, this mysterious spot has fascinated travelers for decades. A yellow board marks the starting point where you can experience this phenomenon.

While science explains it as an optical illusion created by the surrounding terrain, local legends attribute it to supernatural forces. The hill is also known as the "Gravity Hill" and has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Ladakh.
