Tso Moriri, also known as Lake Moriri or "Mountain Lake," is a lake in the Changthang Plateau of Ladakh. At an altitude of 4,522 meters (14,836 ft), it is one of the highest lakes in India and is considered the largest high-altitude lake entirely within India.
Unlike the more famous Pangong Lake, Tso Moriri is a freshwater lake and is home to diverse wildlife including the rare black-necked crane, bar-headed geese, and various migratory birds. The lake is part of the Tso Moriri Wetland Conservation Reserve.
The lake is surrounded by the Mentok Kangri and Lungser Kangri peaks, creating a dramatic backdrop. The nearby village of Korzok, one of the highest permanently inhabited places in the world, offers a glimpse into traditional Changpa nomadic life.
