May - October
The Sham Valley Trek, often called the 'Baby Trek' of Ladakh, is the perfect introduction to high-altitude trekking in the Himalayas. Despite its gentler nature, it offers all the quintessential Ladakh experiences - ancient monasteries, traditional villages, and stunning mountain views.
The trek passes through the lower Indus Valley, known as the 'Apricot Valley' due to the abundance of apricot orchards in the villages. The relatively lower altitude makes it suitable for families and first-time trekkers.
Along the way, you'll visit some of Ladakh's most beautiful monasteries including Likir, Ridzong, and Alchi. The village homestays offer an authentic glimpse into Ladakhi life and culture.
